Meet Dr. Stephanie Crise
Dr. Stephanie Crise’s outstanding credentials, combined with her love for others, her genuine concern for the well-being of her patients, and her fascination with the science of orthodontics, make her an exceptional orthodontist. Her compassion for other people makes the Smiles Hollywood patients love coming to her for orthodontic treatment, and creates a wonderful environment for her staff.
The idea for her Hollywood/Broadway-themed office was sparked by her very own love of the stage. Dr. Crise, who wears many hats (mother, wife, singer, public speaker, Texas Aggie and Baylor Bear mom!), regularly speaks at schools, community events, church and charity functions. Her first love, however, continues to be “Creating Smiles, Hollywood-style” in an enjoyable office where her patients are the real “Stars.”

Dr. Crise regularly gives her time to the community. Annually, she visits elementary schoolers all over McKinney and the surrounding areas to teach the importance of dental health. Dr. Crise has been interviewed as an orthodontic specialist by Channel 8 (ABC news) and has been a radio contributor with her own “Crise Byte” health news spot.
Her commitment to the community is displayed by her generous charity involvement. She hosts an annual fundraiser for The Samaritan Inn, a local charity benefiting the homeless. Dr. Crise also has a heart for our troops and has sent care packages to our troops overseas as well as supporting our local firefighters and the Wounded Warrior Project which helps veterans with disabilities caused during their service to our country.
Dr. Crise’s ultimate goal is to inspire every person she encounters to be the best they can be and to help others improve their lives. This is also one of the reasons she maintains an open door policy for teens who are interested in pursuing careers in dentistry and orthodontics, and invites them to observe in her practice by mentoring and shadowing her and Dr. Downs. Dr. Crise also employs high school students in her office through the school/work program and loves encouraging students to take dental & medical career paths. Teens are close to her heart and she has enjoyed working with them through the years.
Dr. Crise intentionally works to be a positive role model for youth and adults. Her values shine throughout her work within the community. She hopes that she can be an example that a person, regardless of their circumstances, can follow their dreams to enjoy life to the fullest. Being raised in a single parent home with all of its challenges, she has learned from her mom that you really can do anything you put your mind to if you work hard enough, and that through Christ, all things are possible.
Dr. Crise has spoken to local high schoolers, through the Rotary Club of Mckinney’s Academic Excellence Program, to encourage students to empower themselves and follow their dreams. Dr. Crise can be heard encouraging students to “Be BIONIC,” which stands for Believe It Or Not, I Can. “I’m always so thrilled with the positive feedback I get after these presentations. I hope to give more motivational speeches in the future here at my office in our soon-to-be constructed learning center.”
Her husband, Mike Crise, owner of a local insurance agency and a previous officer of the Rotary club, has witnessed the positive effects of his wife’s speeches first hand. Comparing her presentation skills with nationally-renowned speakers, he remarks “What sets her apart is her genuineness. She tells kids what they need to hear. At every event, several people approach her afterwards to tell her how much her words affected them.”
Dr. Crise, a wife and a mother of three, also carries the title of Valedictorian of Baylor College of Dentistry, Miss Texas A&M, accomplished stage and film actress, ministry and community leader. Dr. Crise is committed to her philanthropic work making her orthodontic office the grounds for numerous fundraisers including a food and supply drive for the Mckinney Food Bank and the Samaritan Inn. Every year Dr. Crise hosts a Halloween Candy buyback program which also benefits the Samaritan Inn. Additionally, Crise, her family, and many of her employees participate in the Susan B Komen Cancer Walk to help raise funds and awareness for Cancer treatment and research.
Another important aspect of Crise’s life is donating time to Mckinney youth. Her dental hygiene presentations to local kindergarten through second graders are not only educational, but also entertaining. These presentations include a puppet show with her official office mascot, Croc Hollywood, who helps children learn how to properly care for their teeth while Crise shares information on healthy eating and its benefits. Children love her entertaining and fun educational presentations which is why she has been asked to come back year after year. She is now going on her 25th year educating kids to have good dental hygiene habits.
In her leisure time, Dr. Crise loves spending her time with her husband, Mike, and three children, swimming, snow skiing, watching movies, attending the theater, and going to sports games. Dr. Crise believes in living life to the fullest, and wearing a smile every day because a smile is the prettiest thing you can wear.

“They work with you as the patient to help you achieve that “Hollywood” smile. As a kid I remember coming here and loving it, I mean the inside is decked out like Hollywood so it is very kid friendly. There is free popcorn, coffee, and video games kids can play while they wait. The staff is very nice as well as the doctors. From when I was a kid up until my frequent visits recently I have seen the same doctors and nothing has changed! They are SO nice! Warm and welcoming.”
